Former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji stated that the Democratic Party needs to be renewed and Sali Berisha must take quick steps to realize it as a process.
Salianji said that the latest opposition actions are proving that his camp is still struggling politically under unfavorable conditions.
He added that his colleagues are constantly falling into Prime Minister Edi Rama's traps, as happened, according to him, in last week's plenary session on the government's vote of confidence.
" The government or Edi Rama, who leads the government, had its own reasons for not allowing the debate, because after three catastrophic mandates of government, Edi Rama no longer has anything to say to Albanians. His entire current narrative is the invention of elements that do not bring anything positive to citizens, like 'Diella', for example. I think, without a doubt, that my colleagues and the opposition should also manage it better. We must do everything we can as the opposition, and the parliamentary group, to manage every trap. So, we cannot fall into every trap that Rama sets. Because it is clear that we, the Albanian citizens today, do not need to repeat on a daily basis that Edi Rama does this, does that. We are in a regime and under the conditions of a regime you must try to fight and take the space as in a regime.
" At any moment, in any circumstance, Sali Berisha has to be one of the symbols that keeps that party united. So in this sense, the discussion is not what will be done with Sali Berisha, what will be done with the Democratic Party, including and being unifying towards all contributions, all sacrifices and all other elements. I believe that Sali Berisha will know how to make the right moves to enlarge and re-establish the Democratic Party, renewing it. I am convinced that without Sali Berisha it is a harmful solution for the Democratic Party, therefore it is up to Sali Berisha, as a symbol, but also as the chairman of the Democratic Party, to make the efforts and openings for renewal, which I think should be done with quick steps without any delay ," Salianji said on RTSH.
