Rama in total isolation from the Trump administration...
The United States of America continues to make out with Edi Rama. Although the prime minister is doing everything he can to get closer to the Trump administration, day by day there are signals that things are not going so well for him.
The jokes he makes with the American president, as well as the behind-the-scenes meetings with Alex Soros, undoubtedly have their effects. But what really happened?
In recent days, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Mark Fleming, has been in Tirana for an official visit.
During his stay in our country, Fleming visited the Special Prosecutor's Office, where he was received by its head, Altin Dumani. He also held meetings with the Minister of Interior, Albana Koçiu, and the Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari. Fleming also met with representatives of the opposition, including Gazment Bardhi, Belind Këlliçi and Jorida Tabaku.
But what is striking is that there was no meeting with Prime Minister Rama. If we go back to the time of Joe Biden, Rama met with every US official. Fleming is the successor to Matthew Palmer; when the latter came to Tirana, everyone lined up. The meetings with Rama were among the first.
But Fleming's visit passed without much fanfare. The embassy itself has limited announcements due to the government shutdown in the US, but the Albanian institutions themselves have also remained silent. But the fact is that Rama has not been ignored. At least so far there has been no announcement of a meeting.
Since Trump came to power, Edi Rama has not had any meetings with senior American officials. Also, there has been no official visit to the US for a year. Not to mention the messages the US has given. No one congratulated him on his election, while the embassy has on many occasions distributed messages from American officials; messages that go directly to the Albanian government. /Pamphlet
