Former MP and founder of "Djathtas 1912" Enkelejd Alibeaj said that the strong threshold of Albania's passage into the EU will only be achieved if Prime Minister Edi Rama is investigated, as has happened in countries like Croatia and Romania.
According to Alibeaj, Rama and Berisha have a common problem with justice, which is why they are trying to place obstacles by initiating constitutional changes.
"Why is there a motive that there should be a constitutional change and an even greater centralization of power? It is the trajectory of hybrid regimes like the one Rama has created. The transformation into an extreme authoritarianism leads to an escalation, to being alone and asphyxiating for any other alternative. The facts of the first one or two months showed this, they still exist today.
Rama and Berisha, who spent the last legislature conducting general trials with the Electoral Code and criminal amnesty, showed that they have no moral compass to unite votes, not in the interest of Albanian citizens.
The conflicting relationship they have with justice, both one and the other, even personal, is enough to lead them to this collaboration with several goals: Stifle any possibility for new political flows, and at a cost on Berisha's part, accepting that he cannot defeat Rama, it is enough for him to be in opposition useful to Rama, for the so-called reforms.
Rama, in his banal Albanian pragmatism, accepts any increase in his power, even if it is illegitimate in public. But Berisha is also content to be in eternal opposition, incapable of having a platform and inspiration, the goal is to destroy any challenger to their country.
Electoral Reform Commission, the idea of why Edi Rama wants it jumps out. Not only that, but it is the architect who in 2020, abolished coalitions, and so on. On the opposition side, there is no platform, no idea, what they are looking for. It is quite clear that this Electoral Reform Commission shows very clearly that they have it for their personal interest. Let's not forget that they have a common problem, justice. Anyone who follows political developments even a little understands that there is a rematch, a new impulse, of the justice system, SPAK, BKH, the courts. It is logical for an average mind that the advancement of justice is aiming for the top. There is no legal obstacle to starting an investigation, to be taken as a person under investigation, to be charged, and to take security measures.
"As I see it, the metastases of corruption and organized crime have spread so far that I think that the strong threshold of this country's transition to the EU will only be crossed if a process of taking even the highest government position under investigation occurs. It happened in Croatia and Romania. They smell it too, so they are putting up obstacles," said Alibeaj.
