The US-EU partner agencies have information that the mafia groups of toxic waste traffic, during the Singapore-Italy-Albania voyage, can carry out simulated attack scenarios, for allegedly accidental sinking of ships with waste, therefore entrusted this operation to Thailand, which caught and not the Albanian authorities who allowed their trafficking...
It is the decision of the Thai authorities that the two ships with 814 tons of waste will be returned and unloaded in Durrës from where they left.
While the Prosecutor's Office of Durrës, referring to the scandal involving segments and official services, has started the investigation with Procedure no. 1596, dated 16.08.2024, for the criminal offense "Smuggling of prohibited or restricted goods".
For this case, the investigation should be done by SPAK, with accusations of international trafficking of dangerous substances, in a group organized by private entities, in cooperation with state institutions and entities of the environment and border and port security.
But confidential sources have informed "Pamphlet" that regarding the two ships with waste, there is another development in the relations between the governmental authorities of Thailand and Albania, regarding the competence and practice of returning them to Durrës.
According to the information, the Albanian Government has asked the Thai Government on Tuesday, through a private lobby, that the return of the two ships with waste be handled by a military operation carried out by the Ministry of Defense of Albania, but outside the operational framework of NATO.
The Albanian Government has made this proposal with its argument, that the waste is considered a high environmental and human hazard, therefore it is up to Albania to organize and manage the entire process of sailing the ships, until their return to Durrës.
More clearly, the Albanian Government has asked Thailand that the two ships with waste be taken over and directed and supervised by the military captaincy and coast guard of Albania, assisted by a team from the Ministry of Defense and the Durrës Port Authority.
But the Government of Thailand has opposed the proposal of the Albanian Government, with the argument that they are not military ships of Albania with allowed military, civilian or food goods.
But they are private ships, which have illegally transported hazardous waste, transporting them illegally with trafficking schemes, without prior agreement between the two states and intentionally leaving the radar control system.
It has already been decided that the two ships with 814 tons of toxic waste will be returned to Durrës, directed and supervised only by the captaincy of the military fleet and the coast guard of Thailand, with the supervision of a joint NATO-UN-WHO team.
Information sources say that Thailand's rejection of Albania's request has been recommended and supported by the US-EU agencies as a security measure, so that the two ships with waste, during the voyage from Singapore to Italy and Albania, are not endangered by simulations or strangulation attacks, by mafia groups involved in this waste traffic.
