"The Albanian's home belongs to God and to his friend", Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama also made some jokes with the European leaders as he announced that they would take a break for lunch.

While mentioning the Kanun and hospitality, the Prime Minister addressed the leaders, saying that usually lunch is not free, but in Albania it is the opposite, as under any circumstances they will be welcomed.

"In our Kanun written a long time ago, there is a chapter on hospitality. It begins with a quote that says that the house of an Albanian belongs to God and to the friend. And this sentence is truly profound. It is the origin of the fact that we finished, we reached the end of World War II as a country that at that moment had more Jews than at the beginning. They came as friends who were protected, that Albanians protected with their lives.

"But among all these things we do for our friends, it is important for us to give them good food. So for this reason, despite the saying that lunch is never free, today you will see that it is the opposite, whenever you come to Albania in any capacity, you will always be welcome," said Rama.
