While today, McGonigal has been sentenced to prison, and will probably be locked behind bars, precisely because of his friendship, secret meetings and corruption by Rama and the people close to him.
The court in the USA decided to sentence McGonigal to 28 months in prison for receiving 225 thousand dollars and concealing contacts with Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to the accusation in the US, McGonigal made secret visits to Albania, where he also held meetings with Rama, which he did not report.
He maintained a constant relationship with the Albanian prime minister, proving in fact what Rama himself said, that he had a friend, and how "friend-friend" asked him to start a criminal investigation into the financing of the Democratic Party since that time was lobbying in the US.
Through friendship, but also bags of money that were delivered to McGonigal, a total of 225 thousand undeclared dollars, Rama managed to bribe one of the highest officials of the FBI, using him as a kamikaze to attack the opposition in Albania. /VOX
