The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to the situations that occurred in the Committee on Health and Social Welfare, describing the situation as unprecedented and alarming for parliamentary democracy in the country.
According to Bardhi, the socialist majority attempted to block the work of the Commission in order to urgently and without transparency pass the draft law on Gender Equality, an initiative that, according to him, violates the foundations of the Albanian family and paves the way for gender self-identification and recognition of more than two genders.
Bardhi emphasized that although the committee meeting had started normally with the necessary quorum to review the draft law on biocidal products in public health, the socialist deputies requested a change to the agenda to urgently put the draft law on "Gender Equality" to a vote.
After the request was rejected by vote, representatives of the majority left the meeting and attempted to block its development, exerting political pressure on representatives of the Ministry of Health.
"It is both absurd and ridiculous that the initiators of a legal initiative boycott the committee just because their request did not receive enough votes. Such behavior is unacceptable in any democratic parliament," said Bardhi.
Full statement:
Dear citizens!
Today, the Committee on Health and Social Welfare faced an unprecedented situation in the history of this committee.
The meeting of the Committee, as foreseen in the meeting calendar, had on its agenda the review in principle and article by article of the draft law "on some amendments and additions to Law No. 95/2015, "On biocidal services and products in public health", as amended.
Although the committee meeting had opened earlier, with the necessary quorum of its members, representatives of the socialist majority requested a change to the meeting agenda to add the Gender Equality draft law for consideration.
After numerous debates and discussions on changing the agenda, in my capacity as Chairman of the Committee, I accepted the request of the socialist members to put to a vote the addition of the draft law on Gender Equality to the agenda, a request that was rejected by vote.
Such a situation is both absurd and ridiculous, where representatives and initiators boycott and attempt to block the committee meeting after their proposal was not approved by vote.
This is unacceptable behavior in any Parliament, and even more so in the parliament of a country that aspires and prepares to join the European family. Equally intolerable is the language that some socialist deputies used and the intimidation they exercised towards representatives of the same socialist political family, with the aim of preventing the smooth running of the committee's work in the interest of Albanian citizens, in accordance with the Assembly's regulations.
In an orchestrated manner, members of the socialist majority, lacking the numbers, attempted to block the development of the committee's work and to exert political pressure on representatives of the Ministry of Health.
This behavior of the socialist majority is in the continuation of the rejection and minimization of the opposition's space in the parliament. In violation of the constitution and every regulation, since the start of the parliamentary session, interpellations, motions with debate, proposals for changes in laws, as well as investigative committees, have been rejected.
Dear citizens!
The genesis of this situation is the urgency to pass the highly controversial "Gender Equality" bill, which paves the way for allowing self-identification and recognition of more than two genders, destroying the foundations of the Albanian family.
This draft law, in our judgment and in the judgment of the vast majority of citizens, is against the interest of Albanians as it deliberately seeks to change the basic concept of our society, the traditional family composed of the natural union between a man and a woman, destroying the binary of the two basic genders, in order to pave the way for recognition through self-identification, of more than two genders.
We recall that the socialist majority rejected the legal recognition of the two genders, man and woman. The votes against the Democratic Party's draft law, which proposed a clear codification in the Civil Status Law of the two genders through the addition of a special legal provision for "biologically unchangeable gender", which emphasized that the female or male gender that is determined by the act of birth cannot be altered or changed throughout life.
Therefore, today, for these purposes, but also with the attempt to pass it without attention, the forcible approval of the draft law was aimed at.
Clearly, day by day, it is being proven that this majority is not guided by the highest interest of citizens, for the protection and strengthening of the foundation of our society, the family, but serves the clear UOKI agendas of left-wing liberal movements that want to destroy our society.
Thank you.
