SPAK communicated the accusations, Meta demands an in-depth investigation;

Kujtim Cakrani, the lawyer of former president Ilir Meta, who is being investigated by SPAK regarding the Cez-Dia case and the lobbying in the US of the entity he led years ago, the LSI, has reacted to the media after the Special Prosecution Office communicated the charges to the leader of the PL, who has been in detention for several months.

The lawyer said that the indictment communication did not bring any new elements and the prosecution has not yet responded to the defense's main request: to identify who made the lobbying payments on behalf of the SMI.

"There is nothing new about the CEZ-DIA issue or about lobbying. Mr. Meta has given his explanations and has requested in-depth investigations from the prosecution to discover who made the payments. They have no information about this," said Cakrani.

The lawyer stated that the defense has repeatedly raised concerns about the lack of concrete evidence linking Meta to the charges of money laundering or corruption.

"The charges are almost ruined. The CEZ-DIA case has been under investigation for years and has now been summarized in just 30 pages. Meanwhile, we have 116 files, nearly 60 thousand pages of documents and evidence that show that Mr. Meta has no illegal assets, no trace of corruption," he added.

According to Cakran, most of the verifications were carried out in banks and financial institutions in European Union countries, and the results were clean.

"Meta has zero corruption and zero wealth derived from corruption," he stressed.

The lawyer also confirmed that the case will be pursued through normal judicial channels and that today's entire session was calm, despite the nature of the accusations.

"From a legal perspective, we will follow every due process. But this issue cannot be separated from the political aspect – it is clear that we are dealing with a politically charged process," Cakrani said.
