The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, held a meeting with allies at the blue headquarters, while emphasizing that the opposition supports justice that acts in accordance with the law and the principles of the rule of law.
He accused the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama of pressure and violence against justice institutions, describing the situation as typical of a "narco-state."
According to him, attacks on the prosecution and state institutions endanger the stability of the country. He brought to attention several concrete cases, mentioning the resignation of former Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta, the dismissal of Ilir Rusmajli and the case of Fatmir Mediu, as examples of double standards in the treatment of justice.
"I fully support those who enforce the law in this country. The opposition has been determined for the rule of law. The opposition stands against any violence and violation. The opposition has not organized violence against the justice system. Albanian drug lord Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj surrounded and raped prosecutors, judges and investigators when the country's third biggest thief appeared before the court. I denounce any threats against law enforcement officers and their families.
The prosecution is attacking the women of the state and this will lead the country to war. And what is happening is typical of a narco-state. Don't forget a deputy prime minister, without asking the prosecution, without submitting a request for an investigation, handed over his mandate and post. This is Ilir Meta, as soon as a document manipulated and falsified by Rama came out. He should go to the investigator as a simple citizen. Fatmir Mediu for a matter that was of the military apparatus and resigned. Ilir Rusmajli was dismissed within 24 hours for the stance he took towards the director who condemned corruption.
