Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi raised the alarm about the condition of the Lushnja Hospital, describing the situation as dramatic and listing a series of problems that, according to him, are directly affecting the quality of service to citizens.
In a public statement, Korreshi criticized the lack of functional equipment, the budget cuts, the relocation of the emergency room, and the conditions in which, according to him, patients receive service in the corridors.
According to Korreshi, one of the main solutions is to restore the hospital's status from municipal to regional, which according to him would bring more investments and funds. He emphasized that this institution serves about 250 thousand residents, not only in Lushnje and Divjaka, but also in the areas of Belsh, Rrogozhina and Peqin.
The Democrat MP also referred to data from the Hospital Directorate, according to which the budget for 2025 has decreased from 107 million lek to 92 million lek, while the fund for analyses has been reduced from 48 million lek to 43 million lek for 2026.
He added that the budget of Lushnja Hospital is about 50% of that of the Fier Regional Hospital, while, according to him, it treats 80% of the patients who visit the latter.
"Today the situation is dramatic. I challenge the Minister of Health and the MPs to come and see the Lushnja Hospital. The municipal status here should be changed to the regional one that it once had, which translates into more investments and lek for this hospital. Last year the budget was 107 million lek, while this year it is 92 million lek. They are bastardizing this city and the fund for tests has been significantly reduced. There are no medications to do the tests and they send them to private hospitals.
The Lushnja Hospital has been extraordinary and has provided services to 250 thousand people, but today there is no working scanner. Even the simplest operations, such as appendicitis, are not being performed, because the scanner is broken. The mammography is also broken, although it was donated by the Islamic Community. Today in the Lushnja Emergency Room, what falls outside comes in, the beds are in the corridors, if you go to the gynecology department, there is no ultrasound machine. Today the hospital is in dramatic conditions. We do not have the means to examine. This also has consequences in the lives of citizens because not everyone has the opportunity to go to Tirana or Fier. I call on the minister and the deputies to raise their voices that Lushnja deserves a dignified hospital where they can receive service", said Korreshi.
Korreshi also spoke about the condition of the buildings, describing one of them under reconstruction as being in severe hygienic and sanitary conditions.
"Degraded building, 2 weeks to clean feces, mattresses, sheets, sludge up to the neck. So they act on what is important, they boast about 500 million euros of Lushnja for agriculture," he concluded.
The MP also ironized the statements of socialist representatives, mentioning the agricultural production of Lushnja, which according to him brings 500 million euros to the state budget, while on the other hand, he added, the city remains without a regional hospital and with a reduced budget for healthcare.
