As Prime Minister Edi Rama is conducting a communication tour to emphasize the government's commitment to European integration, Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku has opposed this narrative, calling for concrete measures.
In a reaction on social media, Tabaku described the government's discourse as unfounded in reality:
"A renewed season of love for integration, but more rhetoric than reality," she said.
The MP added that the integration process does not depend only on external factors, but on concrete government decisions.
Tabaku focuses particularly on the proposed changes to the Criminal Procedure Code, which she believes could serve as a shield for officials investigated for corruption.
According to her, withdrawing from this initiative would be a minimal test of the government's seriousness about European integration.
The MP highlights two steps that, according to her, are missing:
-Increase in corruption complaints from state institutions themselves
-Abandonment of legal changes that could hinder investigations
She adds that so far, corruption cases have been referred mainly by the media and the opposition, not by the government itself.
In conclusion, Tabaku stated that integration is not a matter of declarations, but of concrete decisions that show political will for change.
