The American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, spoke at the meeting of the youngest people at the Pyramid of Tirana. He praised the diplomatic relations between the USA and Albania, while he said that building the future is in the hands of the youth.
During the speech organized in the premises of the Pyramid, the US Secretary of State appreciated the role played by Albania in accepting refugees from Afghanistan, who left due to the coming of the Taliban to power.
Blinken also showed cases of some of the Afghan girls who have already managed to get an education and have ideas to open their own businesses.
"Albania's transition to the new world was not as simple as turning on the lights. The secret was in the young people, who created the change. Young people like you are essential to transform the future of Albania. Here we have journalists who are exposing corruption. Some of you have welcomed Afghan families who have escaped, and this shows the hospitality of Albanians. I met with several Afghan families who have come here and are waiting to go to the US. Their journey would not have been possible without the help of Albania. You are welcoming them with open arms and the way you are welcoming them. It was very exciting for me, that among the Afghan refugees, where there were two parents who have five children, and each of these children were the first in school, but when the Taliban came, they could not go to school, and we found opportunity to teach you through the Internet. I am very grateful for our partnership to help refugees from Afghanistan. The more we share experience, the better we will be, the US and Albania have had diplomatic relations for over 100 years. I am convinced that in the coming century, we will see that our countries will make the world safer and more stable, and you are the ones who will do it. I am very grateful and I hope very much for your contribution to building this future", said Blinken.
