
Two people have been arrested by Tirana Police, suspected of being involved in illegal activities related to narcotics and sports betting at a bar on "Jeanne d'Arc" Boulevard.
The owner of the bar, Zyfer Topulli, 56 years old, and Gerard Ereqi, 33 years old , were arrested . According to the police, the 56-year-old had adapted the business environment for the use and sale of narcotics, as well as for placing sports bets, while the 33-year-old was caught red-handed placing bets with a mobile phone.
During the search of the premises, police services seized a quantity of suspected cannabis, as well as three mobile phones that were allegedly used for illegal sports betting activity.
The arrests were made as part of the police operation codenamed "Meeting Place", conducted by specialists from the Cyber Fraud Investigation Section, in collaboration with specialists from the Special Operations Force Sector.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action.
"Following the checks in various environments, with the aim of ascertaining and cracking down on cases of their being made available for criminal activities, specialists from the Cyber Fraud Investigation Section, in cooperation with specialists from the Special Operations Force Sector, finalized the operation codenamed 'Meeting Place'.
As part of the operation, citizens ZT, 56 years old, and GE, 33 years old, were arrested in flagrante delicto.
During the searches at the premises of the 56-year-old's bar, on 'Jeanne d'Arc' boulevard, a quantity of Cannabis and 3 mobile phones used for placing sports bets were found. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old was caught red-handed, at the premises of the bar, placing bets with a mobile phone.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police announced.
