MPs Oriela Nebiaj and Flamur Hoxha have resigned from the presidency of the Democratic Party after the meeting that took place yesterday evening.
The leadership of the Democratic Party held a meeting yesterday to discuss how the party would be run and the date of the election of its new leader.
The meeting was accompanied by numerous debates and tensions.
Some MPs left, considering it a unilateral decision to set a date for the election of the new DP chairman.
The presidency decided to open the electoral process and hold elections for the President of the DP on July 29, 2023. The decision was approved with 17 votes in favor, Jonila Godole and Flamur Hoxha voted against, while Jorida Tabaku, Juela Hamati and Oriela Nebiaj abstained.
We remind you that even Jorida Tabaku, after refusing to take the leadership of the Democratic Party, has also resigned as vice president of the party. This decision of hers came after the meeting of the leadership of the DP, which took place amid fierce debates and tensions, where a part of the deputies, including Gazment Bardhin, left the meeting.
But despite the tensions, yesterday's DP leadership meeting decided to open the race for the leader of this political force, setting July 29 as the date for the election of the leader.
