Dashnor Sula said that politics and the language used towards justice professionals are responsible for the situation that led to the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja on October 6 at the Court of Appeals.
He said that the judge was a positive person and not corrupt, but that the hate speech towards the justice system and the known property conflicts brought about the fatality. Sula emphasized that the people of justice must be protected.
"He was a good judge, a man of integrity and a non-corrupt judge, bad luck befell him. Astrit was a positive man, with a sense of humor, I offer my condolences to the family. This showed that the entire society has failed. We live in a contaminated and toxic environment. The language used by politicians about the justice system is inexcusable. This is because all conflicts go to the doors of justice where they resolve the issues and the parties clash, where the judges have a difficult time making a decision," the democrat expressed to "News 24".
Sula added that this event was not only alarming, but showed that the system had failed. He also recalled cases where politics had attacked people in the justice system.
"The murder of the judge is alarming and shows that the system has failed. The problem is politics. We must be concrete. Politics has always attacked people in the justice system, every wing, we remember Maks Haxhina, Arben Rakipi, Theodhor Sollaku, Ina Rama. They have not only been intimidated, but also visibly violated," said Sula.
But one of the main defects, according to the former MP, for the incident that occurred, was Law No. 7501 on property from over three decades ago, which created a large number of conflicts.
"Even on the concrete issue, politics makes laws, politics brought about property law 7501 and caused all these conflicts," he concluded.
