"Police chiefs and ministers are appointed by gangs", DP MP: Our

Democratic Party MP Elda Hoti has described the murder of Judge Astrit Kalaja inside the Court of Appeals as an alarm bell and a failure of security in the country.

She has called for the immediate resignation of Interior Minister Albana Koçiu, who did not take responsibility for the security of the Courts, while the Supreme Court of Justice revealed the documentation sent where she repeatedly requested increased measures from the State Police.

"The only country where no accountability is held. The Minister of Interior should have resigned after the event. The murder of the judge is an alarm bell for every Albanian citizen. The Supreme Court of Justice had said it for two years, and had also sent letters to increase security in the courts. Measures were not taken and the government and state institutions are responsible. The security system has failed and this was also seen in the case of the murder of Martin Cani, which showed that even school security had failed," said Hoti.

Hoti added that this situation leads people to self-justification, adding that Albania is the only country where the police director is appointed by crime.

"It is a serious event for a judge to be killed in the courtroom. It is an alarming situation. Imagine what happens to a judge. It is the only country in the world where the police director is appointed by gangs and crime. The Minister of Interior comes out and says; the police have no duty to guard the courts. They come out with official statements. They are leading Albanians to self-justify," the MP said.

The DP MP also accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being responsible for the created situation, the failed security and order, the level of corruption and the seizure of power in the country.

"Edi Rama steals the elections, robs them and does not win them. Even the DASH report showed that the economy is gripped by crime and foreign investors are leaving and do not feel safe ," the MP told "News 24".
