"Evil cannot be trusted", said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the UN General Assembly. The Ukrainian leader made the statements as he asked the world to unite to end Russian aggression against his country.
In a speech in New York, Zelensky said that a nuclear-armed Moscow must be stopped as it could "push the world towards the final war".
During the speech, which focused heavily on the danger Russia poses to the world, he argued that other shared challenges, such as climate change, can only be properly addressed once Moscow has been shown its seat.
"While Russia is pushing the world towards final war, Ukraine is doing everything to ensure that after Russian aggression no one in the world will dare to attack any nation," Zelensky told world leaders attending the annual General Assembly.
He also emphasized that Russia simply does not have "the right to possess nuclear weapons."
“Armament must be curbed, war crimes must be punished, displaced people must return home and the occupier must return to his land. We have to come together to make it and we will!”
He also accused Moscow of committing "genocide" by kidnapping Ukrainian children.
This is the first time that Zelensky is physically present in the hall of the United Nations.
