The cooperation between the army of Albania and Kosovo is the key to face any danger from Serbia, says the former president.
Albania and Kosovo must have a common defense strategy, says the former Albanian president, Alfred Moisiu.
He emphasizes that the two countries should have greater cooperation between the army headquarters as only in this way, according to him, any kind of adventure of Serbia can be faced.
In an interview for KosovaPress, Moisiu says that the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, is the main initiator of the aggression against Kosovo, through the terrorist attack in Banjska.
The attack on the Kosovo Police in Banjska of Zveçan took place on September 24 last year, by a group of armed Serbs.
The responsibility for the terrorist attack was taken by the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Millan Radoicic, this party which has the support of the official Belgrade.
However, the former president of Albania emphasizes that the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue should continue while demanding greater coordination with the allies, especially the United States, from the Kosovar authorities.
"I also criticized the government in Albania and Kosovo, as we need to coordinate more and better. To have a common defense strategy as a nation. The ministries of defense and the general staffs of the Albanian army and the Kosovo Security Forces must also cooperate. In this way, we will be more solid and ready to face any kind of adventure", he says.
According to him, it is unimaginable that the Serbian president was not informed about the terrorist attack in Banjska.
"He is the president of the Serbian state. I cannot imagine that a country like Serbia, which is a dictatorial state to be honest, that someone acts without the knowledge of the head of state. I can't imagine this. Anything can be said, but I can't believe it. He was inside and has a hand in these things [the terrorist attack in Banjska]. This is disturbing", declared the former Albanian president.
Moisiu mentions the hegemonic ambitions of Serbia over Kosovo, however he emphasizes that the Brussels dialogue must continue to reach a final agreement.
"The dialogue will continue, it is known. But they [Serbian officials] have their own goals and they don't give up on those goals. I told a case, in 2002, before I was president of Albania, I was invited to a conference in Belgrade. There I met a general of the Serbian army, talking to him I said: What do you have, what is this 'Kosovo-Metohi'? There is no Metoh, this is Kosovo. He said to me: Mr. Moses, we have now left the border with you, but gradually we are getting closer to you. See what mentality they have. They still dream that Kosovo is the cradle of Serbia. These are really dreams, which they nurture and keep alive," he says.
The former president of Albania emphasizes the need for leaders in Kosovo to coordinate with allies, especially the United States, for actions in the north.
"The actions of Kosovo's politicians must be coordinated with our allies, in particular with the United States of America but also the European Union. After all, they love us because they helped us create the state of Kosovo. They didn't create the state to tear it apart, of course. But we also need to know how to behave. We must coordinate actions. That doesn't mean we're going to drop everything.
No, but we have to talk because any stubbornness is to our detriment more. The Government of Kosovo has the right to be concerned, but it was I who criticized not its concern but the manner of action. We must cooperate with our allies. We need to agree with the United States of America on how to resolve things better. This is not solved immediately, but here we need organization to find the way of cooperation", he concludes.
This year, Prishtina in the north has closed Serbian parallel structures and banned the use of the Serbian dinar.
