The Chairman of the RTK Board, Besnik Boletini, and a member have resigned after clashes over an article.
The resignation is related to the "Slobodna Bosna" article, broadcast on RTK, which attacked two Kosovo media outlets, accusing them of being financed by Serbia. Boletii has also accused Adi Krasta of inaction regarding the scandal from the article of "Slobodna Bosnë".
" Efforts to address the scandal of the publication of an unverified article during these weeks were daily and continuous, despite the difficulties. The findings of the commission's report were clear. Since August 9, the deputy director Adi Krasta (who has the responsibilities of the director) is not addressing this report. Being in charge of the public broadcaster for even one day is a privilege, but also a responsibility. And as you can see, he has no will to take measures against those who caused the scandal ", he writes.
After the resignation of the chairman, the member of this board, Arta Berisha, also resigned. Berisha said that she resigned from the position of RTK board member after the board meeting held today.
" It has been a great responsibility and honor for me to give my professional contribution in the effort to advance the public broadcaster towards an informative house in the service of truth, education and social emancipation. I thank the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo for the trust given to be part of the highest governing authority of RTK ", wrote Berisha on Facebook.
For Berisha, it was unacceptable that violators of professional standards go unpunished according to RTK regulations.
" Being a supporter of professional standards in journalism, which I have respected to the maximum either as an active journalist or as a member of the Board of RTK, for me it has been unacceptable that violators of professional standards go unpunished according to the regulations of RTK ", said Berisha.
Like the resignation of President Boletini, the resignation of Berisha comes after the publication on the portal rtklive.com of a report received by the Bosnian media "Slobodna Bosna", which labeled two Kosovar portals. Regarding the publication of the article by the medium from Bosnia and Herzegovina on the portal rtklive.com and then on the news edition of RTK, there have been many reactions.
Regarding the publication of the Bosnian medium's article on the rtklive.com portal, Berisha, relying on the report of the RTK commission that handled this case, says that the standards of journalism were violated and the RTK board was lied to.
" The report of the RTK Commission is clear and shows that in the last case - the publication of an unverified text that was first published by another medium - the professional standards of journalism were violated, to make matters worse: the board was lied to. This is intolerable for me. I hope that the practice of impunity will not return to RTK ", Berisha emphasized.
