Half a year after the terrorist attack in Banjska: Why are only

The international pressure on Serbia increased a little in the last few weeks, but in Belgrade there is no willingness to condemn Millan Radoicic for crime and terrorism. It seems that the ground is being prepared for him to be punished more than face-to-face - you say that he parked the car badly in North Mitrovica.

Half a year has passed since the attack by Millan Radoicic's group against the Kosovo police in the village of Banjské. A Kosovo policeman was killed by Serbian attackers; three armed Serbs were killed by the Kosovo police. Justice in Kosovo is "conducting investigations". Even the judiciary in Serbia is said to be "conducting investigations". Interpol has issued an arrest warrant against Millan Radoicic. There are no warnings about indictment.

In recent weeks, a little pressure has been added to Serbia to shed light on the circumstances of the attack against the Kosovo police on September 24 last year. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, American Senator Jeanne Shaheen have requested that Radoicic be brought before the trial.

It seems that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is more preparing the ground for Radoicic to appear before the court than for face - as an offender who should be fined a little because he parked his car wrongly in North Mitrovica and not to be punished as a terrorist.

Finally, the newspaper "Danas" from Belgrade, one of the few in Serbia that can be taken seriously as a source of information, wrote that Vucic is giving advice to the Serbian judiciary regarding Millan Radoicic, who has taken responsibility for the attack in the village of Banjska. Although there is no doubt about the nature of the attack - it was a terrorist attack and for this criminal act Radoicic should be charged, Vucic has stated that the relevant authorities will charge the people in Banjska "for example for causing general danger".

"How can we accuse them of any other criminal offense when they will show up and say 'we only did our job, because according to resolution 1244 it belongs to Serbia, and according to that resolution there should be 1000 soldiers and policemen who did not accept them, so we were forced to defend our land'. And what can we say? Will you be judged for this?" , Vucic added.

After the attack in Banjska, Serbia has had a very easy time: neither the EU nor the USA have imposed sanctions on Belgrade, while Radoicić continues to live as he has lived until September 24, 2023. He is a free man and this is also illustrated by the images from celebrating his 46th birthday a few days ago in Kopaonik. On that occasion, fireworks were set off and the slogan "Happy birthday, commander" was chanted. This rhetoric matches the language of the Vucic regime, which tries to present Radoicic as the equivalent of the Albanian fighters, who in the late 1990s rightfully fought the terror regime of Slobodan Milosevic.

A few days ago, Radio-Television of Kosovo (RTK) broadcast a recording where it was said that Millan Radoiçiçi is seen punching Aleksandar Spiriçi, former mayor of the municipality "Kosovska Mitrovica", installed by Belgrade. Spiriq, who denied the news that he was beaten by Radoiçiçi, was removed from office last August and disappeared from public opinion.

With the appearance of Radočić in the public eye - as a birthday celebrant - the regime seems to be sending signals to the West that he (Radočić) is a very powerful dog in Serbia, therefore untouchable, and therefore dangerous for the government.

When asked by "Voice of America" if Belgrade was behind the attack in Banjska, US Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien said that Serbia replaced the head of the intelligence service who was involved in it, withdrew troops near the border with Kosovo and that Washington expects Serbia to prosecute the persons responsible. Serbian secret service chief Aleksandar Vulin was blacklisted by the US a few months before the Banjska attack because of his ties to Russia and his destabilizing role in the region. His departure at the beginning of November seems like a tactical move by Vucic to inform the US that Vulin was the organizer of Banjska and he left, so Radoicic was only a sporadic figure in this whole event. All this is done in order to buy time.

When in January 2018 the politician Oliver Ivanovic was killed in Mitrovica and on that occasion it was mentioned that the gang of Millan Radoicic was behind this crime, Vucicic said that he did not know Radoicic. After the attack in Banjska, Vucic said: "I know Millan Radoicic, how can I not know him?" We are collaborators". When asked why Serbia is not handing over Radoicic to Kosovo, Vucic replied with a counter question: "Are you kidding me or what?" This is a clear warning that the Serbian authorities are not ready to cooperate with Kosovo to investigate this terrorist attack in Banjska.

Until 2013, Radoicic was the head of the underground in the north of Kosovo. With the signing of the so-called "Brussels Agreement" between Serbia and Kosovo, the "Serbian List" party was founded, a branch of Vucic's party in Kosovo - and Radoicic also emerged as a political leader, becoming the vice-president of the "Serbian List" . Born and raised in Gjakovë, familiar with the Albanian language and the Kosovar mentality, Radoicic had no difficulty establishing connections with Kosovo mafia groups and politicians from Pristina, especially when he officially entered politics.

Radoicic was a "project" of the Vucic government to control the Kosovo Serbs. He continues to be treated as such by state authorities. If he were treated as a terrorist, this would be an open admission that Serbia as a state deals with terrorist activities in the region.

A Serbian opposition politician said these days that he would not be surprised if next year, on the next anniversary of the Serbian state, "businessmen" Millan Radoicic and Zvonko Veselinovic, both influential figures not only in the settlements, would be honored with decorations by Vucic. Serbs in Kosovo, but also in Serbia./ Koha
