The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo has reacted after the attacks that took place last night in the municipality of North Mitrovica, saying that these are Serbia's attempts to escalate the situation in the north.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs in response says that the building of the North Mitrovica Municipality was attacked with an explosive device, which is suspected to be a hand grenade. Further, the MIA adds that two cars were damaged by this criminal act.
" Last night in the late hours, the building of the Municipality of North Mitrovica was attacked with an explosive device, which, according to experts, is suspected to be an M75 type hand grenade. As a result of this criminal act, two official cars near the building were also damaged. The Kosovo Police has taken immediate measures to investigate the case and identify the perpetrators ", the reaction continues.
Furthermore, the Ministry emphasizes that the continuous terrorist attacks against the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo must be met with a strong reaction from all.
" These are consecutive attempts by Serbia to escalate the situation in the north of the country. We remain vigilant and committed to order and security for all citizens without distinction ", it is said, among other things, in the reaction.
The police today confirmed that on Monday in the late evening, suspected persons attacked the municipality in the North of Mitrovica with an explosive device.
There have been tensions in the north since May 26, when the new Albanian mayors took office, the local Serbs opposed them by trying to forcibly enter the municipal facilities. Serbs have attacked KFOR soldiers, Kosovo Police and media teams.
