International criticism of the closure of 9 Serbian post offices in Kosovo,

In a recent action that has attracted international attention, the Kosovo authorities have closed nine branches of the Post of Serbia in the north of Kosovo, an area inhabited mainly by Serbs. This action has been accompanied by strong reactions from the United States and the European Union, which have described it as a unilateral and uncoordinated action.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Xhelal Sveçla, defended the action during a visit to North Mitrovica. In a statement to the media, Sveçla said: "What Kosovo's institutions are doing is very normal. They didn't have a license." He emphasized that the closing of the branches was a necessary step to address the concerns raised by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic and Postal Communications (ARKEP), which had informed about the operation of economic operators without a license in the territory of Kosovo.

On August 5, Kosovo authorities closed three branches of the Post of Serbia in North Mitrovica and Leposavic, two in Zveçan, and one in Zubin Potok. The Kosovo Police announced that this action came after information indicating that these branches were not registered with the Agency for the Registration of Businesses in Kosovo (ARBK).

International criticism has been immediate. The European Union described the action as unilateral and uncoordinated, while the United States expressed deep disappointment over the closing of the branches of the Post of Serbia. These reactions raise concerns about the possible impact of unilateral actions on the stability of the region and on Kosovo's international relations.

Investigations and efforts to address this situation are ongoing, and it is clear that there will be further discussions on this issue at the highest international levels.
