Sub-zero temperatures and difficult snow-covered mountainous terrain have not stopped KFOR peacekeeping troops from patrolling the border between Kosovo and Serbia, acting as a force of security and stability in the region.
KFOR, through a post on Facebook, has published photos showing Italian soldiers of the Western Regional Command carrying out patrols in order to monitor the territory and provide security for all citizens living in Kosovo.
Such patrols are carried out regularly and are designed to avoid any possible incidents and to intervene if necessary to prevent the escalation of tensions.
In these patrol operations, KFOR troops are armed and equipped with the most modern technologies and equipment to monitor the situation and intervene in any case.
Last year, NATO sent hundreds of additional troops to its peacekeeping mission in Kosovo - KFOR - following the unrest caused by the installation of Albanian mayors in four Serb-majority municipalities in the north.
The KFOR force reached 4,600 troops, even after the soldiers who were added after the September incident in Banjska, where a group of armed Serbian paramilitaries attacked the Kosovo police, killing police officer Afrim Bunjaku.
