The former soldier of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hasan Dakaj, was arrested 2 days ago by the Serbian authorities in Merdara, while he was crossing the border to go to Italy. He is accused of war crimes in 1999.

It is learned that Dakaj has been transferred to the main detention center in Belgrade.

The news was announced by his lawyer Xhevdet Smakiqi through a post on the social network 'Facebook'.

"The latest information about the case of Hasan Dakaj's arrest that I have received is that Hasan Dakaj has already been sent from the Detention Center in Kurshumli to the main detention center in Belgrade on "Baçvanska" street ," he wrote in his post.

According to him, the Prosecutor's Office of Serbia claims that Hasan Dakaj committed war crimes in 1999.

"KLA member Hasan Dakaj is alleged by the Serbian Prosecutor's Office to have committed war crimes in 1999 as a 19-year-old. According to his official duties, Hasan Dakaj has been assigned a lawyer from Serbia, where in the interview before the Serbian prosecutor, Hasan Dakaj has pleaded not guilty even to the fact that he was not at all in those locations according to the suspicions of the Serbian prosecutor's office and that he was mistaken for someone. other" , says the lawyer.

The ex-KLA fighter, together with his brother Xhevit Dakaj, were heading towards Italy but were stopped and arrested at the border point of Merdare as they entered the Serbian territory. Kosovo requested international help to intervene in the release of the arrested.
