The Court of Pristina has recently decided to postpone the terms of detention for Naim Murseli and the other two persons who are accused of the murder of Liridona Ademaj.
Security expert Bedri Elezi says that Naim Murseli's crime carries a high penalty and that is the reason why he is still in custody.
According to Elez, there are also still unexplained issues related to the crime, which require investigation time.
"It is well regulated by the law with the penal code of Kosovo regarding the issue of investigations and the issue of the justification of detention for persons suspected of serious crimes. It is a crime that carries a high sentence and it is thought that the sentence may be one of the reasons for the detention. Then it is an issue that requires further investigation considering that there are some issues that have not been clarified so far and need a more serious approach. This murder is very complex and we are dealing with suspects and witnesses. Any action which would have the consequence of not placing the responsible persons in front of a situation, where they will not have the opportunity to have an impact on the damage of the evidence or the risk of flight, even other issues, therefore in this aspect I believe that the court has taken into account the request of the prosecution, which is quite regulated in terms of the justification for keeping the persons in question in custody", said Elezi in an interview for Top Channel.
