Prime Minister Albin Kurti, during a meeting today in New York with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, requested that the Holy See open its mission in Pristina, thus following the example of Kosovo by opening its mission in the Vatican.

Kurti has informed the Secretary of State of the Vatican about the institutional support and protection that Kosovo offers to objects of cultural and religious heritage.

He also spoke about Kosovo's commitment to respecting religious rights and freedoms, and the government's social policies and employment measures.

Kurti emphasized that Kosovo is the country of all its citizens and that in this direction the Government works to ensure equal opportunities for everyone towards secure economic development.

Earlier this year, official Prishtina opened a special mission in the Vatican, a country which has not yet made the decision to recognize the state of Kosovo.

According to the Law on foreign service, a special mission is a "temporary mission, representing Kosovo in another state or international organization, with their consent, to negotiate or perform special tasks, which are in the interest of Kosovo" . The establishment, composition and functions of the special mission are determined by the president's decision, after consultation with the prime minister.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti is in New York, USA, where he is participating in the High Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly.
