The second day of final statements in the trial against former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, former Speakers of Parliament Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi, and former MP Rexhep Selimi continues today at the Special Court based in The Hague.
The prosecution has requested a sentence of 45 years in prison for each of the defendants, considering them responsible for their actions as former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army during the war.
The four face charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, while all have pleaded not guilty to the acts attributed to them.
According to the indictment, the events for which they are accused allegedly took place from March 1998 to September 1999, in several areas of Kosovo and northern Albania.
After the closing statements, the case file will be transferred to the panel of judges. The judges have three months to announce the verdict, or they can request an extension of this deadline.
