The chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia, Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petkovic, will hold the second round of meetings in Brussels mediated by the EU envoy, Miroslav Lajcak, regarding the issue of the dinar.
Lajçak announced the holding of this meeting on March 19. He said that the discussions were focused on urgent issues on the agenda of the dialogue, including the implementation of the Agreement on the road to normalization, the regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo and the local elections in the Serb-majority municipalities in the north of Kosovo.
According to Lajçak, both in Pristina and Belgrade, he underlined the importance of implementing the Agreement without delay and addressed the urgent issues affecting the dialogue. A round of negotiations between the financial experts of Kosovo and Serbia took place on February 27 in the European capital, but ended without concrete results. Kosovo refused to be represented at the political level because it considered that the dinar should not be a topic in the dialogue process.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, guaranteed this week that he will not accept proposals that go outside the CBK regulatory framework.
"Look, it is an ongoing process and there are several proposals. However, there are no proposals that are accepted by us that go against the new CBK regulation", said Kurti.
