The American Undersecretary of State, Victoria Nuland, has called on Kosovo and Serbia to reduce tensions and start implementing the commitments made in Ohrid.
This is what Nuland expressed today after the meeting with the European Union emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak.
" Happy to welcome my old friend, the EU special emissary, Miroslav Lajcak. We ask Kosovo and Serbia to escalate the situation immediately and start implementing the Ohrid commitments. We continue to support the EU's three-point plan as the best way out of the crisis. ", she wrote on Twitter.
Kosovo and Serbia have agreed on the agreement between them on February 27 in Brussels and its implementation annex on March 18 in Ohrid, based on the proposal of the European Union.
On the basis of this agreement, the declaration for the persons forcibly disappeared during the last war in Kosovo was also signed, while the parties also started discussions on the statute of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority.
However, the institutional leaders of Kosovo have constantly criticized Serbia for its destructive approach to dialogue and non-implementation of the agreement, which, according to them, has been proven by the vote against Serbia for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
On the other hand, tensions in the north started on May 26, when the elected mayors of four northern municipalities went to the municipal facilities to exercise their duties, assisted by the Kosovo Police.
