The Ambassador of Germany, Jorn Rohde, when asked at what point are the relations between Kosovo and Germany, he said that they are not improving now.
"We hope that the Government of Kosovo listens to our good friends and I am not only talking about our countries that we represent here. Our leaders have written letters asking Kosovo to listen to us and it is not good to walk alone", said Rohde in an interview for public television in Kosovo.
Rohde recalled that since 1999, they have been supporting Kosovo.
"Germany has also given a boost to the vote in the Council of Europe, so this is also part of these efforts," he said.
The German ambassador asked how Kosovo can make progress even with non-recognizing countries when there is a cooling of relations with other countries.
"This is not the path that should be followed and we need to get closer again. I hope that Kosovo will listen to us", he said, adding that it is not only about what France and Germany say, but the EU with its 27 member countries.
Rohde confirmed that at the moment there is a cooling of relations.
He said that their advice is for the parties to talk and not to make accusations against each other.
"We are seeing a ping-pong game and what we need is constructive engagement and this is the immediate need," said the ambassador.
