Kosovo's electricity supplier, KESCO, has requested a 21.3 percent increase in electricity prices by 2026.
The request has been submitted to the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO), which must now decide whether or not to approve the proposal to increase electricity tariffs.
If ERO approves KESCO's request this time, this would mark the third time in the last four years that the price of electricity has increased.
Every year, ERO reviews and sets electricity tariffs, which are announced on April 1 and are in effect until March 31 of the following year.
In 2023, ERO approved an increase in the price of electricity by 15 percent, and in 2025 by 16.1 percent. Meanwhile, in 2024, tariffs were reduced by 8 percent for household consumers who spent over 800 kilowatt-hours, as well as by 3 percent for commercial and industrial consumers.
Currently, the daily rate for consumers who consume less than 800 kilowatt-hours per month is 9.05 cents per kilowatt-hour, while the night rate (from 23:00 to 08:00) is 3.88 cents per kilowatt-hour.
For kilowatt-hours spent above the 800 kilowatt-hour block, the price is 15.43 cents during the day and 7.28 cents at night.
