After the meeting, President Osmani and Secretary Stoltenberg will hold a joint press conference. The Presidency of Kosovo has announced that during the official visit to NATO, Osmani will have a meeting with the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, as well as meetings with the United States Ambassador to NATO, Julianne Smith, and with representatives of other allied states.
"During the visit, President Osmani will reaffirm the determination of the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo to advance the path towards membership in NATO, starting with the Partnership for Peace program, strengthening cooperation and coordination with allies, in particular for security issues , the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for the ongoing role and contribution of NATO in Kosovo, as well as the commitment to joint contribution for long-term peace, stability and security in our region", the announcement states.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the troops led by NATO, KFOR, Angelo Michele Ristuccia, has said that although the security situation in Kosovo is calm since the tensions that arose in May, it remains very unstable.
The Italian major general has said that due to political disagreements, the tension between the parties has remained high.
"The situation is calm after the events of May 29. But, in a way, the situation is still very unstable. We perceive tension - tension due to the multitude of unresolved issues. If we have to make a diagnosis of what is happens, I would say the most worrying disease is mistrust between the parties. That means there is no military solution. The only solution is a political solution," he told reporters at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Reuters reported. .
According to NATO, more than 90 peacekeeping soldiers have been injured in clashes with Serbian protesters in northern Kosovo.
