The constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has failed for the 23rd time. 111 deputies were present at the session, while the chairman of the session Avni Dehari put the Committee for supervising a secret ballot for the speaker of parliament to the vote again, but there was no quorum. He interrupted the session and announced that the session will continue on Saturday at 11:30.
The failure to form a new Parliament has plunged the country into a political impasse, leaving it without a new government, more than three months after the elections.
Successive failures are occurring despite calls from within and outside the country to move forward with the creation of institutions.
Before the start of the session, the chairman of Nisma, Fatmir Limaj, said that he did not expect to be nominated by Albin Kurti's party for speaker of parliament.
"Could Kurti surprise you today by proposing to you?" Limaj was asked by journalists today.
"Political agreements are built differently, it's not a matter of surprises. I am ready to meet whenever I have an invitation. We had coffee with Glauk two days ago. We talked. It is more than normal to talk about developments, concerns and to address topics on how to get out of the situation. Limaj said that the important thing is that there are some opportunities to be used. Will they be used? I don't know ," Limaj said.
Regarding the possibility of cooperation with the Vetëvendosje Movement, Limaj said that his party believes it could make a contribution to Parliament.
"We believe that at this stage we can make a greater contribution through cooperation in the Assembly. I know this parliament building and its functioning quite well ," he said.
