The killing of the policeman in the north, KFOR reacts: Ready to respond if

After the killing of the Kosovo Police officer and the wounding of another this morning in the north of the country, KFOR reacted.

In their response, it is stated that KFOR continues to closely monitor the situation in Banjska and their troops are present in the area, ready to respond if their intervention is needed.

"The Kosovo Police, as a first responder, has the primary responsibility for managing the incident on the ground.

The KFOR commander is in close and constant contact with all international stakeholders, including the EU, the Chief of Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces and the institutions in Kosovo and is working intensively to find a solution" , it is said in KFOR's reaction.

It is further emphasized that the NATO-led KFOR mission strongly condemns the attack against the Kosovo Police and expresses its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased Afrim Bunjaku.

We remind you that the law enforcement officer from Samadrexha and Vushtrri was shot dead today around 3 am, in an ambush by masked persons in Banjska i Zveçani.

They blocked the way of the police car in Mitrovica-Leposavic with two trucks and then fired at them. As a result, another person was also injured.

Bunjaku is the second policeman to be killed in the north of Kosovo, while in 2011 Enver Zymberi, from Dubovci i Vushtrri, was on duty.

He was killed on July 26, 2011, during the action of the forces of the Republic of Kosovo to extend control to the north of the country.

Regarding the event, the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in a reaction on Facebook, considered it a terrorist act, saying that organized crime with political, financial and logistical support from official Belgrade is attacking the state of Kosovo.
