Liridona Ademaj's killer, Naim Murseli appears in court: I am completely

Today, Naim Murseli, who is accused of murdering his wife Liridona Ademaj Murseli, appeared in court.

"I am completely innocent ," declared Naim Murseli in today's court session.

But, during the hearing, the defendant Tome Dodaj, who is accused of selling Naim Murseli the weapon with which Liridona was executed in front of her two children, revealed his "accomplice". Before the jury, he admitted his guilt and the fact that he had sold Naim Murseli the weapon with which Granit Plava committed the murder of Liridona Ademaj on November 29, 2023, for 280 euros.

Liridona Ademaj was murdered on November 29, 2023, on "Dalip Alshiqi" Street in Pristina.

The case was initially reported as a "robbery resulting in murder," but two days later authorities arrested two people. Among them was Liridona's husband, Naim Murseli.

The prosecutor in the case, Javorka Perlincevic, stated on January 15 that during the time the couple lived in Sweden – together with their two children – they had had a “turbulent marital relationship,” which resulted in property problems.

"You can learn the other reasons Naimi had for planning and committing this murder in court when the main hearing begins," said Perlincevic, who said that finding the motive for the murder had made the process of filing the indictment take longer.

According to the prosecutor, the authorities came to this information after cooperating with the state of Sweden, after the Prosecution Office in Pristina had requested data about the couple's life and their marital relationship.

"Only then were we able to create a complete picture of their lives and find the motive that pushed Naim Murseli to make the decision to remove Liridona, not to mention her liquidation, because the manner in which the crime was committed clearly indicates an act such as liquidation," declared Përlincević.

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecution Office in Pristina, Zejnullah Gashi, stated during a press conference on January 15 that the murder committed by the "family member" was carried out in a "cunning manner", therefore adding that he expects a capital punishment from the court.

According to the Prosecution, Naim Murseli had "planned everything", while Kokalla and Plava, according to the prosecuting body, were "direct executors" of Liridona. The fourth defendant, according to the Prosecution, is indirectly involved in this case, namely he is suspected of having sold the weapon to the gunman.

Murseli, Kokalla and Plava are in custody, while Dodaj is defending himself at large.

The murder of Liridona Ademaj had caused public outrage due to the fact that her husband had been part of the funeral ceremony.

Liridona's family had requested the exhumation of her body so that she could be buried in her parents' cemetery, while women's rights activists have requested that Liridona no longer be identified by her husband's last name, but by that of her family, Ademaj.
