Renowned actor Richard Gere has permanently moved to Madrid and the reason is none other than... Donald Trump.
The Hollywood actor received an honorary Goya award for his overall contribution to cinema on Saturday night, and in his speech he mentioned the reason that prompted him to leave the US. Speaking from the stage of the Palacio de Congresos de Granada, the Hollywood star attacked the American President, calling him a “bully and a thug.” Shortly after Antonio Banderas presented him with his award, Richard Gere spoke briefly to the audience.
While initially talking about the art of acting, the actor interrupted and referred to the changes he has recently noticed in the world. Among other things, he spoke about racial discrimination, while describing Donald Trump as a "villain" who has plunged America into a "dark period."
Specifically, the actor said: "I see this bigoted racial mentality that's starting to spread, where we think we're all separate from each other. "Unfortunately, we have elected officials who don't inspire us the way we would like," he said. He then added: "We're in a very dark time in America, where we have a bully and a thug as president of the United States," as the audience applauded.
