Indian police recently reported the interesting case of Nisha, a young woman who filed a lawsuit against her husband, claiming that his request to spend less time on social media had caused her to lose followers. The bizarre marital dispute began when the husband, identified only as Vijendra, suggested that she spend less time on social media and more time doing household chores.
The 30-year-old woman later told police that, up until that point, she and Vijendra had been living in harmony in their home in Noida, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, but his demands had destroyed her social media activity. Nisha used to post at least two videos on Instagram every day, but her husband’s demands made that impossible, and when she lost two followers in a single day, Nisha gave up. She left home, moved back in with her parents in another village, and filed a complaint against her husband. The Women’s Police Station in Hapur District confirmed Nisha’s complaint, telling reporters that the scorned woman blamed her social media decline on her husband’s insistence that she spend less time on her phone.
“My followers refused to follow me on Instagram because my husband kept me busy washing dishes and cleaning the house and I didn’t have time to make Reels,” the woman reportedly told police.
When he heard about his wife's actions, Vijendra filed a complaint of his own in retaliation, claiming that Nisha was always busy on Instagram and neglecting household chores. After hearing both sides, the police brought Nisha and Vijendra together and talked to them about the importance of marital harmony and family life. The counseling session worked wonders, and the couple is now back together and trying to mend their relationship. Unfortunately, the turmoil caused by Nisha's police complaint caused her husband to lose his job, and he is now looking for another way to earn a living.
