Renowned Turkish actor Can Yaman has been officially announced as co-presenter of the 2026 Sanremo Festival, the most important music event in Italy, where the country's representative for Eurovision 2026 is traditionally selected.
According to a statement released by RAI, Yaman will take the stage on the first night of the festival, on February 24, alongside host Carlo Conti and world-famous singer Laura Pausini. This engagement marks a strong media comeback for the actor, only a short time after the controversy that accompanied him.
The 2026 Sanremo Festival will take place from 24 to 28 February, with 30 artists taking part in the competition. Among the well-known names are Ermal Meta, with the song "Stella stellina", who represented Italy in Eurovision 2018 together with Fabrizio Moro, as well as Raf, with the song "Ora e per sempre", who participated in Eurovision 1987 with Umberto Tozzi.
As in previous editions, the winner of the Sanremo Festival will win the right to represent Italy at Eurovision 2026. In case of refusal, this right will pass to the artist ranked second and then according to the final classification.
As for the festival formula, the first night will include performances by all artists, evaluated by the press room. The second and third nights will be divided according to participants, with votes from radio committees and the public. The fourth night will be dedicated to "cover" songs, without affecting the final ranking, while the fifth and final night will decide the winner through a combination of televoting, press and radio.
Can Yaman's participation in the role of co-presenter is expected to bring great media attention to Sanremo 2026, placing the festival not only at the center of Italian music, but also of public debate.
Can Yaman was in the spotlight last month when he was arrested on drug and prostitution charges. However, after investigations, he was released without any criminal charges, paving the way for his artistic career to continue.
