Celine Dion has returned to the stage for the first time since revealing she is suffering from a serious health condition, performing at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. The Canadian superstar was rumored to be singing a duet with Lady Gaga, but she climbed the Eiffel Tower alone to sing for thousands of spectators.
It was Celine Dion's first live performance in four years and came a year and a half after she revealed she was suffering from muscle stiffness syndrome (SPS). SPS is a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle spasms and can be debilitating. It also influenced her distinctive and powerful voice. The 56-year-old was accompanied by a pianist on the first level of the Eiffel Tower, below the giant illuminated Olympic rings.
Starting from Celine Dion's last video, the singer appeared very sick and was crying out in pain. But it would not be surprising if it was a form of promotion for the famous singer's return to the stage.
