A dark and shocking story is coming to light from Hollywood. Nick Reiner, the son of renowned director Rob Reiner, is under arrest, suspected of being the author of the murder of his father and mother, Michele, who was found without signs of life.
According to TMZ, the incident takes on even more disturbing dimensions as details emerge about the hours following the alleged crime. Nick Reiner reportedly checked into a Santa Monica hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning, where he allegedly left a trail of blood behind.
He arrived at The Pierside Santa Monica Hotel around 4:00 a.m., using his credit card to reserve a room. The reservation was for one night only, but Nick never checked out.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ that Nick appeared "deranged," but there were no obvious signs that he had been involved in a violent conflict: there were no blood stains on his clothes or visible wounds on his body.
The situation took a shocking turn when hotel staff entered his room on Sunday. According to sources, they found the shower “full of blood” as well as blood stains on the bed. Another disturbing detail was that the room’s window had been covered with sheets, raising suspicions of an attempt to hide what had happened inside.
Detectives arrived at the hotel on Monday to collect evidence, analyze the scene and interview employees. After that, Nick Reiner was tracked down and arrested near downtown Los Angeles.
The incident is suspected to have been preceded by family tensions.
According to TMZ sources, just hours before Nick checked into the hotel, he had a heated argument with his father, Rob Reiner, during the lavish Christmas party hosted by Conan O'Brien.
Those present at the party claimed that Nick was behaving unusually: he was not interacting with guests, seemed isolated, and his attire was disheveled. While the event was elegant and formal, he had chosen to wear a sports shirt, and witnesses claim that he appeared to have consumed something, although it is not specified what.
Sources close to the family say that Nick Reiner's parents had been trying to help their son fight addiction for years, but their efforts had not yielded results.
