Hulk Hogan's family is considering filing a medical malpractice lawsuit over his father's death.
According to Fox 13 and NBC 6, the family has filed a request for a 90-day extension of the statute of limitations on a medical malpractice lawsuit as the investigation into the WWE legend's death continues.
A copy of the lawsuit filed this week by Hogan's family and obtained by NBC 6 lists Tampa General and Morton Plant hospitals and two doctors as potential defendants.
If approved, Hogan's widow and son will have 90 days from Sept. 30 to file a medical malpractice lawsuit, according to a copy of the filing released by NBC 6.
Hogan died at a local hospital after collapsing at his Florida home last July. He was 71. The medical examiner determined his death was caused by a heart attack.
Medical records showed that the 12-time world champion had previously been diagnosed with a form of cancer, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and had a history of atrial fibrillation.
