This is the promise of the American company "Venus Aerospace", which introduced a revolutionary "explosive" engine called VDR2.
Described by the company as “a significant step forward in supersonic flight, it's actually designed to allow you to reach the speed of approximately six times the speed of sound.
At the heart of the (probable) revolution is a futuristic propulsion system which, instead of using slow-burning fuel, according to the designers, will be able to generate blast waves which will propagate cyclically within the circuit, thus guaranteeing record performance.
"This engine makes hypersonic speed a reality," said Venus Aerospace co-founder Andrew Duggleby.
"We look forward to working even more in-depth, to fly the first example and finally to perfect a concept engine that until now has existed mostly in textbooks, but never as a production unit," emphasizes Eric Briggs, chief operative of another company involved in the project called Velontra.
The company will start the first tests in 2025.
