Fans of Turkish series have reason to celebrate: 15 years after their international success in "Suleiman the Magnificent" (Muhteşem Yüzyıl), actors Halit Ergenç and Meryem Uzerli will be together again in a new cinematic project.
The 2011-2014 historical series brought global fame to the two actors in their iconic roles as Sultan Suleiman and Sultan Hurrem, airing in over 100 countries and gaining millions of followers in the Middle East, Europe and Latin America. For years, fans have been clamoring for their return alongside each other, and now their wish is coming true.
The new film, titled “Spring in Imroz” (İmroz'da Bahar), is produced by Sky Films under the direction of producer Emre Oskay and directed by Özcan Alper, known for his emotional and deeply human films. The story is about two people whose paths unexpectedly cross on the island of Imroz (Gökçeada), as they face personal challenges and have the opportunity for a new beginning. The film explores the question of whether love can return at a late stage in life, bringing a “second spring” to the protagonists.
Sources say that filming is expected to begin soon, while it has not yet been confirmed where the film will be released in Turkey. However, the news of the Ergenç-Uzerli reunion alone has become one of the most exciting events of the year in Turkish cinema.
