In 2017, Amanda Wideman was returning from a music festival in British Columbia, along with her then-partner, when they were involved in a serious car accident.
While they were driving on a mountain road, another car lost control and swerved into their lane. In an attempt to avoid it, they ended up colliding with another vehicle, causing their car to flip over and come to rest upside down on a concrete barrier, just inches from a deep ravine.
“In that second, I was completely convinced I was going to die,” Amanda recalls for The Other Side NDE. “I closed my eyes, calmed my body, and just gave up.”
Her partner, who was at the wheel, remained conscious and began to scream, while Amanda was unconscious. It was at this moment that she says she had an out-of-body experience that changed her forever.
"I felt like life went on forever"
Amanda remembers that immediately after the crash, she felt an endless darkness that did not seem scary at all, on the contrary, she describes it as a "soft and safe cave, that wrapped you like feathers."
She says she felt as if she no longer had a body, but she was fully aware of everything. “I couldn’t see or hear anything, but I was more alert and aware than ever.”
She describes a “presence” she felt near her, which she identifies as what many people would call God. She then felt as if she was surrounded by “millions of other presences,” all with a sense of love and the absence of any judgment.
Moments later, Amanda regained consciousness and learned that she had only suffered a minor neck sprain, while her partner had received a blow to the head.
"Life on Earth seemed hazy to me, as if I was under the influence of a few glasses of alcohol, while that experience was like true reality, clear and pure," she said.
“I felt a deep peace and a divine presence around me – as if I were among billions of souls from all of creation.”
After this event, Amanda decided to leave her profession as a physician assistant, sold her house, and ended her long-term relationship with her partner. She started an online business as a trauma coach, does volunteer work, and continues to travel, living out of a suitcase.
"The experience changed me fundamentally – I am no longer attached to material things, I am more spiritual and focused on gratitude," Amanda said.
