Singer Rita Ora's neighbours appear to be furious with her plans to build a high-tech gym in the back garden of her £7.5 million villa.
According to the Daily Mail, the 34-year-old, who bought the Grade II listed property in Primrose Hill, London, four years ago, intends to demolish the exterior features that have been there for nearly 150 years.
But it seems that the artist's neighbors will not allow such a thing, as they have filed strong complaints, describing the project as an "ugly". They also accuse the famous singer of hypocrisy, as according to them, with this action she is endangering a delicate natural habitat.
"Ironically, the current owner has publicly stated that she wanted to preserve and honor the heritage of this garden, which she has described as a haven for butterflies, birds, and even peacocks that have been seen there over the years."
"Destroying this natural ecosystem to build a modern gym is completely contrary to the heritage and tranquility that this protected property represents," the neighbors write in their letter to Camden Council.
The situation becomes even more awkward after they mention an article that Rita Ora herself had previously written for Architectural Digest magazine, where she had praised her garden:
"Welcome to what I call my little piece of paradise… this is where the butterflies live. I didn't want to put too many electrical elements in this part because I felt that the purpose of this garden was to remain just a garden."
Neighbors warn that the construction of the gym will destroy the peace and may cause disturbances from noise and lights.
This is not the first time the "Hot Right Now" singer has faced controversy. She has previously had similar noise disputes at two other London residences. A spokesperson for the singer declined to comment on the matter.
