
Vincent “Vince” Zampella, one of the most important names in modern video game history and co-creator of the iconic “Call of Duty” series, has passed away after a tragic car accident in Southern California, on Sunday, December 21, 2025. He was 55 years old.
The incident reportedly happened around noon on Angeles Crest Highway, a mountain road near Altadena known for its stunning scenery and dangerous driving conditions. Authorities said the vehicle Zampella was driving veered off the road and struck a guardrail. Another person in the vehicle later died at the hospital. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
