Renowned singer Jonida Maliqi has spoken about her personal life and the challenges she has gone through. Maliqi said that one of the most difficult moments for her was her divorce from her ex-husband Gent Prizeni.
She stated that the separation came after 17 years of marriage and was a consequence of growth and changing perceptions over time.
"I got married at a very young age, I got married at the age of 17 and spent 17 years with Dani's father. I divorced at the age of 34, of course Dani was very young, he was 5 years old and I needed to be a family, however it was a choice that I think came as a result of the time when you meet at a very young age, people start to think differently, react differently, evolve and you are no longer the person you once were and especially as mothers, women, a kind of metamorphosis happens to us and we start looking at it from a different perspective, the priority is the child, not yourself anymore", Jonida says on "TV Klan".
The singer emphasized that she decided to have a smaller family and live happily within the four walls of the house, rather than face uncertainty and conflict.
"So I think it's better to be in a minimized family, but to be happy within the four walls of the house, than to have insecurity, to have conflicts and not be at peace with yourself. I think divorce is not easy, absolutely, but it's not the end of the world either. We were born alone and we will die alone. Above all, I love myself the most and when I love myself, I will love anyone who will respect me, appreciate me and walk with me through good and bad. I think two parents should be there for each other through good and bad," she said.
