The trial of rapper Sean Diddy Combs began on Monday, May 5. The charges against him include racketeering, human trafficking, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.
At the same time, he faces dozens of rape and sexual assault charges. So, if convicted, the famous rapper risks life in prison.
Several sketches obtained by Us Weekly have recently been published, which depict Diddy's physique.
In the portraits, he is depicted with gray hair, a fact attributed to the prison regulations where he is being held, which prohibit the use of hair dye. The 55-year-old appeared dressed in civilian clothes, a white shirt, a dark sweater and light-colored pants, having previously received permission from the judge not to wear the prisoner's uniform, as was the case in his other court appearances.
On the first day of jury selection, the candidates were asked questions about their knowledge of the case and their schedules, as the judge estimated the trial would last at least eight weeks. Diddy was arrested in September 2024 and charged with human trafficking, conspiracy to commit extortion, assault, and transporting persons for the purpose of prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and vehemently denies the allegations against him.
“We are disappointed by the Prosecutor’s decision to proceed with a criminal prosecution that we consider unfair against Mr. Sean Combs,” said his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, adding: “He is an imperfect human being, but not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Cobbs cooperated fully with authorities and on his own initiative relocated to New York last week, awaiting charges. Please do not jump to conclusions before you have all the evidence. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide and is eager to clear his name in court,” the lawyer added.
Since his arrest, Diddy has been held at the Federal Detention Center in Brooklyn, with four requests for parole denied by Judge Arun Subramanian.
The artist has not been photographed in public since his arrest in 2024. Law & Crime reporter Elizabeth Millner, who saw him at a hearing in December, reported that the rapper looked noticeably thinner, which is to be expected considering he has been in a federal detention center for several months.
