This morning, renowned actor Burak Deniz was detained as part of a wide-ranging operation in Istanbul targeting 14 individuals, including public figures, as part of drug investigations.
Among those arrested are rapper Norm Ender, chef Somer Sivrioğlu, musician Mert Demir and actors Büşra Pekin and Burak Deniz . The operation is ongoing and authorities have not yet provided full details of all those involved.
By order of the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the group of 14 people also included Hafsanur Sancaktutan, Emir Can İğrek, Serra Pirinç, Ogün Alibaş, Utku Ünsal, Sinem Özenç Ünsal, Elif Büşra Pekin, Ahsen Eroğlu, Emre (FEL) Öztürk, Ender Eroğlu and Enes Güler.
The operation, part of the investigation file 2026/73811, was coordinated with the Narcotics Crimes Directorate of the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie and aims to prosecute for drug use for personal purposes.
The checks and seizures carried out on April 9, 2026 aimed to apprehend persons suspected of purchasing, possessing and using narcotics. So far, 11 people have been arrested, two are wanted, while another is abroad.
The prosecution stressed that investigations into crimes that endanger public health will continue with determination, underlining the importance of punishing illegal actions even when it comes to celebrities.
