Xavier Trudeau, known as Xav, has openly commented on his father, Justin Trudeau,'s relationship with singer Katy Perry. The couple publicly confirmed their relationship on Instagram in December 2025.
Guesting on the podcast "Can't Be Censored," the 18-year-old described Katy Perry as a "super sweet and down-to-earth" person: "She's fantastic. I think my dad is happy and that's the most important thing," said Xav.
Xavier has three children from his father's previous marriage to Sophie, while Perry has a daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. He also revealed that he makes his own music and sends his songs to Katy Perry for advice: "When I'm happy with a song, I send it to her. She always helps me improve."
Speaking about the public pressure that comes with Katy Perry's fame and his father's political career, Xav said he's used to the media's attention. He added that seeing photos of his father with the singer in the media is completely normal: "It's like any other photo of my dad and mom, or just my dad."
Regarding negative comments online, he admitted that he is sometimes influenced by criticism, but he follows the advice he has received since childhood: "My whole life they tell me: 'Don't read the comments.' However, it helps me when someone shares or likes my video."
This reaction by Xavier shows an open and measured approach to his father's relationship with a world star and to the public pressure that accompanies this relationship.
